Devastating flooding in Pakistan

Devastating floods have hit the Asian country of Pakistan.

The flooding has been caused by the Indus River. The huge river burst its banks after an intense period of rain during the monsoon season.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the floods have affected more than 33 million people. that is around 1 in 7 people from Pakistan.

Over a million homes have been destroyed.

The country’s National Disaster Management Authority said that more than 1,000 people have died so far as a result of the monsoon rains.
