The once uncool rubber shoe known as Crocs, is making a comeback.

Searches for Crocs have increased by 32% month on month, according to the fashion search engine Lyst. They even called them the “It shoe” of the season.

The company has set up endorsements with Justin Bieber.

A key reason for the growth has been the pandemic, as people search for comfort clothing.

The rubber shoe, first appeared in 2002. It is made from from a special resin, which made them lightweight and odour resistant, they were initially marketed at sailors and water sport enthusiasts.

However, the shoe soon became a firm favourite among those doing jobs that involved long periods of standing, such as hospital and restaurant workers.

However, the shoe has had its problems. In 2009 the firm lost almost $200million and in 2010 they were 22nd in Time magazine’s list of the 50 worst inventions.
