Croatia’s President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic is in New Zealand on her first official visit.
She arrived with her husband, Jakov Kitarovic, on Saturday, having been in Australia last week, and will be in the country until Tuesday.
They will visit Auckland, Wellington, Rotorua and Taupo.
The itinerary includes an official welcome at Government House in Auckland and a state luncheon hosted by Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to meet with members of the Croatian community, estimated to number 100,000.
New Zealand politicians are expected to be interested in her take on political events in Europe, and also any chances for New Zealand companies to do more business in Croatia.
The president’s office said the aim of the visit would be to forge new partnerships and open up investment opportunities in Croatia.
