The International Cricket Council is preparing a bid for cricket to be included in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Cricket last featured in the 1900 Olympics in Paris but has rarely been played in other multi-sport events.

Data shows that 92% of followers come from South Asia where it is the dominant sport in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

However, there are 30 million cricket fans in the United States.

Cricket was played at the 1998 Commonwealth Games and a women’s tournament will be held at next year’s Games in Birmingham.
