A new study has found that giving cows seaweed in their diet is great for the environment.

The new research, from the University of California, found that cattle that ate seaweed reduced their methane emissions by much as 82 percent!

The study also found that the diet helps them produce top quality meat too!

It is well known that livestock such as cows, sheep and pigs produce a lot of methane. This is a harmful greenhouse gas and is made as a by product of their grass based diet. Evidence shows that this is bad for the environment.

However, this latest study has confirmed that if cows eat some seaweed,(scientific name, Asparagopsis) that chemical reaction is massively reduced, meaning their gas expulsions are up to 82 percent less harmful for the environment!
