A regular lottery player in Pennsylvania threw away $1.25 million worth of winning lottery tickets in the trash.

The man bought 25 tickets, each worth $50,000 if won. He misread his tickets and believed them to be worthless, throwing them out with his weekly trash.

Upon returning to his regular store, the man was informed of his costly mistake.

The tickets had expired by the time he tried to claim the money, and so the money remains in the Lottery Fund.
