Swimmer Lewis Clareburt has won gold in the men’s 400 metre individual medley at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The 23-year-old won the event in a time of 4.08 seconds, with Australia’s Brendon Smith getting silver and Scotland’s Duncan Scott bronze in the event.
Clareburt went out fast, and stayed strong to withstanding the challenge of Australia’s Brendon Smith.
“I honestly thought that would never happen but … I knew it was going to happen at some point but to execute it at the right time and the right place and the right moment, you know it’s a pretty good feeling.”
Earlier, Cameron Gray won a bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Butterfly.
The 18-year-old is a Commonwealth Games debutant.
