For the first time since the 2011 earthquake, the Christchurch Tram will be back up and running making a full loop around the central city. The tram was operating a shortened route from the museum to New Regent Street via Cathedral Square, however it was unable to complete a full circuit route of the town due to the ongoing earthquake repairs.  These repairs include a new sewer pipe down Armagh Street and re-strengthening of the Armagh Street Bridge.
While the trams were in storage they have been repaired and carefully maintained. Each tram has been revamped with new screens and audio video that shows passengers what Christchurch looked like before the quakes and what it could look like in the future. With a gleaming new paint job, new metal work and glossy varnished wood the trams are in good shape to hit the road again!
