Building heights may be restricted to a maximum of four storeys if new rules around the Christchurch city rebuild are adopted.
This is the main rule put forward by the City Council as the city starts to plan how it will re build itself following the 2011 earthquake.
Last year the Government released its plan for the city of Christchurch. When this was done the Christchurch City council went away and reviewed its plan.
The City Council review is now complete with some of the recommendations being the following;
– Reducing the maximum building height for developments in the city centre.
– Standardising the rules for outdoor living space and how far buildings should be from the road.
The plans still need to go through final votes but it looks as if the plan has the backing from most groups in Christchurch.
