Broods win big at NZ music awards

New Zealand duo the Broods have won five Tuis at the 2016 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMAs).
The results ends another incredible year for the brother-and-sister duo who took home four awards last year.
The Nelson born, LA-based act won Album of the Year for their sophomore effort Conscious and Single of the Year for their track ‘Free’, as well as winning Best Group, Best Pop Album and the People’s Choice Award.
Aaradhna earned Tuis for Best Female Solo Artist and Best Urban/Hip Hop Album for Brown Girl.
Singer songwriter Bic Runga received the Legacy Award for her contributions to Kiwi music and was welcomed into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
She celebrated the honour with a special rendition of her huge hit ‘Sway’.

Best Electronic Album: Pacific Heights – The Stillness
Te Mangai Paho Best Maori Album: Rob Ruha – Pūmau
Best Worship Album: Edge Kingsland – Edge Vol. 3: The Common Good
Best Classical Album: Anthony Ritchie and Ross Harris – Fjarran
Kenneth Young – ‘Shadows and Light’
Zephyr – ‘Zephyr’
Vodafone People’s Choice Award: Broods
