A new actor has started playing Doctor Who and NZ fans of the television show  have watched the first episode in a special cinema screening.

Peter Capaldi is now the twelfth actor to play the Doctor and his first episode, Deep Breath, was shown this week.

Critics in the UK hailed Capaldi’s feature-length debut saying it was excellent.

The BBC makes huge profits from selling Dr Who around the world.

This latest episode was screened in 24 different countries  from Kazakhstan to Ecuador, and including New Zealand.
