United States authorities have arrested a person following a bomb scare at the White House.

Over the weekend a man drove to a White House checkpoint and claimed to have a bomb.

Following a close inspection of the vehicle no device was found in the vehicle, but White House security had been upgraded.

It was the second scare at the White House on Saturday. A person earlier jumped over a bike rack in a buffer zone in front of the building, but was unable to scale a fence into the grounds before being tackled by guards.

US President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time of both incidents.
