The Black Sticks women have thrashed Argentina 3-0 in their opening hockey match in Tokyo.

The triumphant success has given the Black Sticks an awesome kickstart to their Olympic woman’s hockey campaign.

Kelsley Smith, Hope Ralph, and Holly Pearson were the three who scored the outstanding goals to shock the Argentinians. This Victory means that the Black Sticks, who are currently ranked world No 6, will now be ranked world No 3 in pool B.

Even in scorching hot temperatures, the New Zealand team defended the Argentinians exceptionally well and they did this without two of their best players Stacey Michelsen and Samantha Charlton who both were left out of the match day team.
