Black Caps win World Cup opener

New Zealand has beaten Sri Lanka in their opening game of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

A superb bowling display was the foundation for a dominant 10-wicket win in Cardiff.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl Sri Lanka collapsed to be 136 all out in 29.2 overs.

New Zealand fast bowlers Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson taking three wickets each.

In reply, Black Caps openers Martin Guptill (73 not out) and Colin Munro (58 not out) raced to their target in just 16.1 overs.

New Zealand’s next game is against Bangladesh.
