Black Caps lose first game of T20 World Cup

The Black Caps have lost their first game of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan.

Pakistan batted superbly to ensure that they beat New Zealand by five wickets in Sharjah.

Chasing 135, a super 48 run partnership by Shoaib and Asif ensured success with eight balls left. The best New Zealand bowler was Ish Sodhi who secured 2 wickets for 28 runs.

Earlier New Zealand, playing their first game in Group 2, were restricted to 134-8 with Haris Rauf taking 4-22. Top scorer was Devon Conway with 27 runs.

New Zealand’s next game is against India on Monday.
