Black Caps beat Netherlands

The Black Caps have comfortably won the first one-day international against The Netherlands by seven wickets.

Chasing 203 to win in Mt Maunganui on Tuesday, New Zealand secured victory with more than 11 overs to spare and 5 wickets in hand.

Will Young led the way for the home side. He finished 103 not out and shared in the key partnership of 162 for the second wicket with Henry Nicholls, who made 57.

Earlier, the Dutch team recovered from 45-5 to post 202 all out in the 50th and final over of their innings.

Debutant Blair Tickner was the standout for the Black Caps, picking up four wickets.

Game two will be in Hamilton on Saturday.
