Bill English appointed Prime Minister

Bill English has been sworn in as New Zealand’s prime minister.
He takes over from John Key who unexpectedly resigned from office last week.
Mr English, who had been finance minister and deputy prime minister was sworn in at Government House in Wellington.
Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett has been named as deputy prime minister.
The appointments were confirmed after a meeting of the National Party’s caucus.
In a tweet, Mr English said he was “excited and humbled” to be elected.
