BatKid, aka 5 year old, Miles Scott, had a busy day saving Gotham City from villains.
From the age of one and a half, Miles has had a type of cancer known a Leukemia and spent most of his young life very sick.
He is now 5 and has gotten better but has missed out on much of a regular childhood.
Make-A-Wish Foundation grants very sick children their wishes and the foundation and the city of San Francisco granted Miles’ wish to be BatKid for the day.
Miles believed that he and his family were simply going to San Francisco to get him a Batman costume which he had been wanting.
However when he showed up, the entire town of San Francisco had transformed into Gotham City and welcomed Miles in his BatKid suit as he arrived to save the day.
Miles was given a number of tasks to complete to save the city, instructed by San Francisco’s Chief of Police.
The tasks included saving a damsel in distress tied to train tracks, catching the Joker and throwing him in jail and saving the town mascot.
At the end of his tasks, Miles was presented with the key to the city by the mayor.
Pretty much all of San Francisco was part of making Miles’ day so special. Buildings were decorated, streets were closed and newspapers printed special editions based on Miles’ crime fighting skills.
Miles even received a special message from the White House with President Obama cheering him on as Miles proved that he is just as tough at fighting crime as he is at battling cancer!
