Bananas going everywhere

After a cargo ship bringing banana’s down from Ecuador broke down a couple of weeks ago, supermarkets and grocers are warning of a short-lived banana shortage. Wholesalers have said that customers could face up to four days without any bananas. As even though a back up ship is hoped to arrive today its banana will still need up to a week to ripen.
The produce marketing and distribution company, Fresh Max, is telling its customers to manage their stock during this shortage. The Allgood Banana company, who run a business supplying fair trade bananas, have said that since they opened five years ago this is the first time they’ve had to manage a shortage like this.
However because of the early indication of the shortage, most wholesalers will be slowing down the ripening schedule of their bananas. Which will hopefully ensure that some bananas will be available each day during the shortage.
