A time capsule buried 220 years ago was opened last month in Boston, US.

The capsule was buried under Massachusetts’ main government building when it’s construction began in 1795.

Inside the capsule were many different coins (some dating back to 1652), 5 newspapers, an engraved plaque that was made especially for the time capsule, along with many other small and odd trinkets.

The capsule was dug up when a water leak in the building near where it was hidden threatened to ruin the items within. The capsule is likely to be put on display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts before being reburied.
