Avocado prices hit record high

Avocado prices in New Zealand have hit an all-time high.
The average price for a 200g avocado is now $5.06. This is a 37% increase from $3.69 in April.
According to the New Zealand Avocado Growers Association, this year’s harvest to June 2018 was down about half of last season. this decrease in numbers has caused avocado prices to rise.
Results from Statistics New Zealand show although avocado prices have risen, other fresh produce such as broccoli and mandarin prices have fallen.
Fruit and vegetable prices fell 2%in the month of May. This was mainly due to a lower prices for mandarins, down 35%, kiwifruit down 39% and tomatoes down 6.5%.
Meat, poultry, and fish prices rose by 1%.

  1. Why I always like avocado but they just had to up the price. At least some stuff is a lower price.

  2. no offence but i dont fancy avacados and i think by making them really expensive is kind of a rip off just saying .-.
