A new study has shown that the average Frenchman now only eats an average of  half a baguette a day.

In 1970’s the average was one and in 1900 it was three per day.

The trend is worrying French bakers so much thay have started a nationwide campaign in June that champions bread as promoting good health, good conversation and French civilization.

“Coucou, tu as pris le pain?” (“Hi there, have you picked up the bread?”) is the campaign’s slogan.
