15 year old Christchurch singer, Nakita Turner’s anti-bullying song and music video has become a viral hit, the two year project addressing the issues of bullying.
The song and music video were edited by members of Kiwi film director Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production team and received 40 000 views after only 6 days online.
Nakita’s project began when she was 13 and she decided to interview 180 young students from 6 Christchurch schools about their bullying experiences.
Those that shared their experiences with her gave Nakita her inspiration for her song, One Voice.
Nakita herself was bullied and she says that it stopped her from doing the things she loved and reaching her full potential.
0800 What’s Up is a call centre for young people who need to talk, and bullying is one of the most common issues that young people come forward with.
0800 What’s Up encourages children and young people who are being bullied to give them a call.
Nakita encourages young kids, teens or even adults to share their bullying experiences on her One Voice page and she has already become an inspiration to many who have heard her message.
