Dame Alison Holst, New Zealand’s long time food expert, has retired from public cooking.
Holst is 77 and has had to give up her cooking because of health reasons.
She lives with her husband, a retired doctor, in Orewa.
Her first television programme premiered in 1965.
The following year she published her first cookbook. Since then (as of 2010) her cookbooks have collectively sold more than four and a half million copies.
