A woman in Maine recently graduated from college at 99 years of age, 75 years after her fellow classmates.
Jessie White was supposed to graduate in 1939 but couldn’t afford to pay the US$5 transcript fee.
Jessie’s friend recently found out about the issue and got in contact with the college president, who paid the fee and set up a ceremony for Jessie.
Finally the 99 year old received her degree in stenography and bookkeeping.
Despite not being able to graduate with the rest of her class and suffering a disability from a polio infection, Jessie never gave up and persisted until she landed a job as a bookkeeper where she worked for years.
Still, Jessie says that finally getting her degree feels great.
