5 year old, Bobby Tufts, has held the title of mayor in a small town in Minnesota for two terms running, but has recently lost the election for his third term to 16 year old Eric Mueller.

Bobby was only 3 years old when he was first elected as Mayor of the town of Dorset in 2013.

Dorset has a population ranging from 9 to 28 people and is known as a tourist town that has no official city government, their mayor chosen by drawing a name from a box at the annual Taste of Dorset festival.

People can vote as many times as they like for $1 per vote which helps pay for the festival, the more votes a person has, the more chance there is of their name being drawn.

One of Bobby’s first acts as Mayor was to declare ice cream at the top of the food pyramid! Bobby also raised money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The 5 year old says he has enjoyed being Mayor, but he says it is time to hand the title over to Eric, whose name was drawn at the latest festival.
