2015 hottest year ever

Scientist have announced that 2015 was the hottest year ever recorded.

Data from NASA showed that in 2015, the average temperature was 0.90°C above the 20th century average.

The worrying trend is that 2014 temperatures had also been above the average.

Another alarming fact was that the temperature in December was the highest on record for any month in the 136-year records have been taken.

The 2015 data highlights the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions if the world is to hold temperature increases to well below 2°C, the target agreed to by more than 190 countries at climate talks in Paris.
