Joleen Williams decided to take advantage of this tradition and proposed to her boyfriend, Duncan, with an onion ring and steak!
Duncan was presented with a huge steak with the message “Will you marry me?’ branded into the meat.
After he accepted the proposal, Joleen presented him with an onion ring to symbolise their engagement – although he probably ate it along with the steak!
