A Cambridge couple are in deep shock after thieves broke into their home and stole their prized Caulfield Cup. The retired racing couple won the golden Caulfield Cup in 1975, with a horse that they trained and part-owned. The cup had taken a prized place in their home for the past 40 years and while it had a monetary value of $50,000, the couple says that the sentimental value was far greater.
With only a broken nearby window, it seems as if the intruder has specially targeted the cup as nothing else was taken. The couple fear that the cup will be smelted down for its precious metal and have therefore taken to social media in a bid to gain information about its whereabouts.
The Police are seeking information about the theft, contact them on 07 827 5531 if you have information.
