11-year-old set world record with first ever 1080

Gui Khury, an 11-year-old Brazilain boy, has just landed a clean 1080 (three rotations) with his skateboard on a vertical ramp.

He is the youngest person ever to complete this move which has only ever been completed by skateboard legend Tony Hawk. This was done 21 years ago.

The incredible feat was posted on his Instagram account by his parents.

“1080!!! I have no words to explain what just happened,” the caption reads.

Last year, Khury made history when he became the youngest athlete to land a 900 (two and a half  revolutions) at the X Games.

In 1999, Hawk made history when he pulled off the world’s first 900 at the X Games. He was aged 31.

Other skaters have landed 1080s in the past. American Mitchie Brusco even making the 1260, but they completed the feat on a ‘mega ramp’  which enables athletes to gain more speed to tackle tough and extreme tricks.
