National Convention Centre unveiled
The Government has announced a new convention centre in the middle of Auckland city.
The new convention centre will cost around $350 million and be designed, built and run by Sky City. It will be known as the New Zealand International Convention Centre.
Part of the deal for them building this facility is that they will also install 230 pokie machines on their facilities.
Prime Minister John Key has said the convention centre will create 1000 new jobs while it is being built and 800 permanent new jobs when it is going.
The facility will be able to hold 3500 people and it is expected that around 35,000 will use it every year.
A number of people have been against the new convention centre. In particular a number of groups have concerns about those who are addicted to gambling and the extra pokie machines that Sky City will be able to run.
