Nelsen, who has played just one match this season, looks set to make the move after Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp talked about his desire to sign the 34-year-old just hours before the transfer window shut at 12pm (NZT).

The move looks even more likely after Spurs loaned central defender Sebastien Bassong to Wolves opening up a spot in the defence for Nelsen while England's Daily Mail reports that Blackburn have cancelled the All White's current contract which was set to end next year. Nelsen had been at Blackburn Rovers since the 2005 season having played 172 games for the Lancashire based club.

Nelsen's Washington-based agent Lyle Yorks told the Washington Post that a six month deal with Spurs has been agreed. "We settled with Blackburn and have reached agreement with Spurs," Yorks said.
