Boy lived as robot for 2 years

Created on April 29, 2013

A young boy in America spent two months living as a robot!

The boy named Grady was eight years old when he had to be kept in hospital for two months after having a bone marrow transplant.

Due to the operation he couldn’t leave to go home, see his friends or go to school. So doctors and the hospital sent a robot out in his place.

Grady used a computer from his hospital bed to control his “Grady-Bot”. Its cameras, mic and speakers meant Grady could see, hear and talk to people.

It meant he didn’t miss out on things like school and his brother’s birthday BBQ.

Grady, who’s better now, could even have dinner with his family around the table at home.

Andy: I think that this article is truly inspiring and that robot that was built for Grady should be built for everyone who’s in the hospital because of a serious injury. I just love this because it shows that faith in humanity has been restored in hospital and medical care places.

Jabulani: I think that this article is an amazing. I think that the robot was a unique way of Grady still getting around and to be still able to be around his family and peers. This article was an inspiring article and think that this robot should be used for those kids or people in the hospital who have serious injuries where they can’t go out to places.
